PRODUCTS:  We will be spraying again this year with Carbaryl (Sevin) or Permethrin (Tengard) with “stickers” added to prevent rain from washing it off once dried. Carbaryl has an effective (residual) time of 10 – 11 months for MPB and 3-4 months for IB on limbs, thus requiring spraying each year for MPB and multiple sprays for the IB. It usually doesn’t harm animals or birds in the diluted form; however, we encourage not allowing pets or humans in areas sprayed until the bark has dried (usually within 1 hr.). The milky residue doesn’t hurt glass or paint, but we still recommend hosing off areas such as patio furniture, decks and vehicles after we spray.
