SPRUCE BUDWORMS

The Spruce Budworm is a destructive forest defoliator in western North America.   Several outbreaks have occurred here in Colorado where they most commonly infest Douglas Fir and White fir.  Spruce Budworms are usually mottled, rusty-brown moths and are present in Colorado from late June to early August.

Chemical control can be applied during the two to three weeks immediately following bud break which in most years occurs around the middle of June.
